History

Rondane Haukliseter Fjellhotel has a long history as a provider of holiday experiences in Høvringen and Rondane. Here are some pictures from years gone by.

The youngest son, Tor Lårgard, born in 1902, started at Nystugu-sætra, which previously belonged to Laurgård. It was he who built what was called Hauklisæter pensionat. Tor later married Borghild Øyberg from Kåja near Selsvatnet, and they had a daughter Mari born in 1940. Borghild's father came from the well-known farm Øyberget in Nordberg, Skjåk.

Hauklisæter boarding house, or Haukli as it was mostly called, was primarily a typical husband and wife operation. It was always a hard drive to get everything ready for the seasons.

The first house was in the usual style, as many were built in the 1920s and 1930s. In winter, the family lived in their house down in the village. Nevertheless, the stay at Høvringen gradually became longer, from early spring to late autumn. In the 1960s, the family grew up at Haukli, which had then become a year-round home. Daughter Mari was married to Per Lyftingsmo, born 1935 from Lesja. His parents were Olga and Johan Lyftingsmo. Mari and Per had the children Tore b. 1963, Berit 1965, Elin 1966 and Geir 1973.

In the latter half of the 1960s, the family made a major improvement to the property. A new main building was erected next to the old one as the first in the million range at Høvringen. It was a fresh venture, and the building was completed in 1968.

Haukli has a beautiful and independent position on the slope up towards the hill south of Høvringsåa. It is most beautiful when the evening sun fills the houses and mountains. In the quarry a little inside Haukli, you can study the layering in the bedrock, as it is throughout Rondane. Once in the distant past this was deposited on the seabed. Just a stone's throw from Haukli, you can always find new, original details to look at in the beautiful nature.
To this day, the eldest son of Mari and Per, Tore Lyftingsmo, has taken over the operation of the hotel. At the beginning of the 2000s, the name was changed to Rondane Haukliseter Fjellhotell, both for a more modern approach, but also to convey the fact that the hotel is located in the immediate vicinity of Rondane National Park. Tore has had a major focus on restoration and refurbishment of both hotels and cabins. In addition, he has also made it possible for camping tourists to enjoy the beautiful nature of Høvringen and Rondane.
